Wow, what a game!

We take the 17-0 lead at the half. Bozeman comes back to tie it with 26 seconds left in regulation. Schulz caps off one of his best games with a nice drive in OT for the game winning FG.

A year after going 2-14, we are now 6-5!!!!!

"Joseph Broenkow sacked by OLB Tito DiBlasio and DE Edward Lichtenberg for a loss of 3 yards. DiBlasio simply blew through Kevin Cooley to reach the quarterback and knock him down. The ball was fumbled and recovered by HWK Courtney Mansour on the LAP12."

Costly turnover there with 1:04 left to play. The team played so well, I had begun to hope we might get to overtime. Shannon "Horror Show" did sack Phillips on the following play, but it didn't move back the chains far enough, alas.

If you'd told me we were going to win against Lincoln, and then told me to predict *how* we'd win, this isn't at all how I would have drawn it up. First play from scrimmage:

Lincoln: Weak formation, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 with nickel personnel and 2-deep man-to-man coverage, expecting the pass.
1-15-LIN15 (1Q: 14:57) Wade Irwin ran inside the left guard for 61 yards. Tackled by ILB Dixon Hixson. Key block delivered by Grant Blackner.

An incredibly inauspicious start there, and it got worse. The Assassins were up 14-0 before the first quarter had ended, and the defense was just getting shredded. We had given up 137 yards by the end of the first quarter: 73 rushing and 64 passing.

And then our defense showed up.

Lowcountry??? Defense??? Yeah, shocking to me, too. Lincoln had 86 total yards in the last three quarters combined. Wow! Good job, D!!! Marrero and Company were solid the rest of the way, but nothing spectacular. However, the defense kept stopping them quickly, and our average starting field position for the day was our own 42.

Bisbo, nice effort early on there. I thought we were in BIG trouble.

Looked early on like Driftwood was going to match us score-for-score, but eventually they had some turnovers, penalties, and missed third downs and we took advantage. The running game was effective, and Krueger was really hitting his key receivers (Dodge, Chamberlain, and Grundy).

GG, Cartman. (sorry about the late FG)

Holy smoke I didn’t expect that against Eaglesfan27 and his Gamblers on the road.

This game was over by half time after we scored 28 points in the second quarter alone!!

The Gamblers gave us the ball five times on costly fumbles and interceptions and the first six times we had the ball we scored five TDs.

The second half was just a question of taking time off the clock.

Ugh, Stuttgart tried to give us some chances to hang around, but we weren't that interested. Good game Fonzie.

Next two are basically must wins for us now at this point.

A 21-7 victory over Rome, in one of the ugliest games you'll ever see. 0-0 at halftime and 7-7 midway through the 4th quarter. Rome basically gave us the game by way of the penalty.

We've now won 2 in a row, but considering the way we've won, I can't be happy at all. We're a miserable team to watch.

I forgot how nice it was to play with a lead. Even though I don't really have a chance to make the playoffs, I'm glad to see my guys play better.

2nd year QB Jimmie Booker had really good game, easily the best of his short career. After going 3/10 on 3rd downs last week, he goes 7/9 this week (converting 6) and completes 4/4 long passes as well (which is an area he has had trouble with since taking over as starter).

*phew*

Sacked 8 times, fumbled on two of them (one in the red zone, one in our own territory), one early pick, but Parmalee did just enough for us to squeak out the win. But more importantly our defense stepped up big time after the early Toledo TD and held them to a FG the rest of the way.

I really need some offensive tackles next season...

Yeah, other than the final score, the game stats look really close. It looks like the big problem for me was a couple of fumbles. I moved the ball really well, but couldn't get any points in the second half.

Man, so close. I can't believe how deep into overtime the game went. Truly a heart breaking loss for the Kodiaks coming of a 4 game win streak. Johnstone did everything he could, but the running game never got going as we had some key injuries on the line. On defense, we once again put some pressure on with 5 sacks, but injuries on the line and in the secondary were just too much as we forced no turnovers.

My team is playing light years better than the early season, which is saying something since we managed less than 300 yards in an overtime game. Still, something positive, if we win out we can go 10-6

WOW.

This was as tight of a game as it gets. Honestly, I don't think we will ever see an 0-11 team as good as Scranton. Seriously....stay away from Al Fleming, their MLB. He covers the middle of the field like a hawk, batting down passes and is always in on the play. And Boyd is a phenom.

This game was so weird though...up until late in the 4th there were only 10 yards of penalties the whole game. No INT's, only a few fumbles, I don't remember any injuries. It was pretty much just a battle the whole game with no help from any of those things.

Good game.

STOP WINNING DAMNIT!

I had a bad feeling about this game, and it sadly was confirmed.

It was a close and even game. In the end, we made a couple of costly mistakes that made the difference.

Good game Wade, your defense caused Baker all kinds of problems, holding him to a season low 56% completion rate.

Oh and I was pissed at my HC for accepting this penalty:

Good game.GG...We are bound to win 1...I think!

Ugh, Stuttgart tried to give us some chances to hang around, but we weren't that interested. Good game Fonzie.

Next two are basically must wins for us now at this point.

gg to you too. I was surprised we moved the ball as well as we did against your terrific defense, and horrified that we weren't able to capitalize on that a bit more. And you're right, we seemed to want to give your team all kinds of chances to get back in this one. I'm quite glad that you politely refused our hospitality.

We're now on a 5-game winning streak and have launched ourselves back into the midst of the Wild Card race. I never woulda thunk that was possible back when we were 1-5. Crazy season.

Of course, now that I've said that just watch us go on a 5-game losing streak to end the year.

Just got back to the hotel and fired up the computer to watch the game. I was loving the 1st quarter when we jumped all over the Gators, but it was all downhill after that. Lowcountry really bottled up Irwin after his first carry. I have to say this was a real head-scratcher for me. What I was watching had almost no relation to my game plan. Seems like we were in a goal line defense way more than we should have been, and constantly anticipated the pass on 3rd and 1 situations. Rainville decided to abandon the short game and started bombing away, with little success. Having said that, we were outplayed and didn't deserve to win. GG Skydog - you put together a very nice game plan. I focused on stopping Marrero, and Stinnet killed us with some solid running. We've got a 1 game lead for the wild card, but there 5 teams just one game behind us - looks like there is no margin for error the rest of the way.

The Jeffs continue their 3 game slide.....
After a good start we have collapsed

Tough game to lose, but we've been erratic like that all season.

Now we have a quarterback controversy and Bert Blackwell just picked you to have a good game against. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he keeps that up, but somehow I suspect he'll be as erratic as the rest of the Ruffians have been.

Don't know wtf I'm going to do with Jerry Labelle, pretty expensive backup. But I don't think he'll be starting for us anymore barring injuries.

GG Jeff.

That game sure was a relief for the Cocktail fans. ;)
Good to see Jimmie showing good signs early in his career.
