Thanks to Antmeister providing me with the command necessary (amazing that there was just ONE little missing piece), we now have a permanent, auto-updating, cross-forum announcement post. It will update when the database is updated. On gameday, that has been a max so far of five minutes and change after I complete the sim (four minutes when some teams have a bye week). It's a matter of seconds for a midweek stage. The offseason remains to be seen. The announcement post, combined with using the nifty html command elsewhere, will change some processes for the better.

1. Probably most importantly, you can now access gameday information and upload your export from any of the WOOF forums by going to the perma-announcement.

2. Since the first two bits in the perma-announcement are the no-spoiler info and the current league file link, I will no longer post a no spoiler thread.

3. You can grab the updated league file from the perma-announcement post once I've uploaded (usually within 3 minutes of sim time unless I have to make manual changes).

4. Since all I need to do is post HTML code that doesn't spoil it for me, I will now post the results thread, without headlines, once the database is updated (again, usually 5ish minutes after sim time). For those that are around and don't do Solevision or game logs, this will get results to you much, much faster than in the past. However, your box scores will be a bit later because...

5. ...there's still one small limitation to all of this in terms of immediacy: Solecismic HTML. Yes, the no-spoiler thread will be updated with the correct location of the game log within 5 minutes usually, but it takes longer than that to generate and upload Solecismic HTML. There will probably come a time when we're auto-generating box scores and game logs from the database, but team and player pages are higher priorities, since we do have functional box scores and game logs from Solecismic. Expect the box scores and game logs to be there within 10-15 minutes of sim time, usually 10.

Oh, and please feel free to give feedback on this change, and any ideas on how it may be tweaked more.

It has been pointed out that it may not be easy to notice immediately. Here's a screenie. It's in the same place in every forum and sub-forum:

I don't have many comments, since this doesn't really affect me. I go to the bookmarked upload/download page, grab the file, watch the sim, then read and react in the forums. Plus I'm not checking in until 9 AM or later by which time all of this is up anyway.

I would note that boxscores / log file generation may be a ways off. I might be able to do a simplified box score (won't have quarter-by-quarter scores for example) just from the game stats, but no log without parsing and uploading all of the Solevision data. I'd like to do that someday, but I'm not sure when it will move up the list.

There are usually around four to eight people in here at sim time.

All sounds really good to me! Like Greg, it probably won't affect me too much but I'm all for making the job of the commish less tedious.

Cool.....so it will save you a lot of time. It'll save a decent bit. (I've already created a gameday template to post, for example.) More than that, though, I think it will save everyone a lot of clicking. For example, there have been lots of times that I've been in the WOOF Sports Journal and wanted to take a quick look at which of the players of the week were on teams that won. Now there's no need to go back out to the forum where that's posted to do that. Once we get the league-wide draft order up, I'll add an iframe with that, too, for trading reference.

I'm one of those hovering over the forums at work or signing in as soon as I get here, so this is great for me!
